Spituk To Stok

Short description: A classical trek into the Stok range starting from Spituk monastery. There are several villages on the way and one crosses only one pass, the Stok La. The longer option of 4/5 days includes the ascent to a fantastic panoramic viewpoint above the Ganda La pass, at 5000m.
Spituk Stok Trek
Spituk Stok trek can be started either from Spituk or Stok village. This is the only trek around Leh which is easily accessible to the starting and finishing point.

Monastries of Ladakh
Namgyal Tsemo. No longer inhabited, this gompa was built by King Tashi Namgyal. It forms a part of the Leh Palace complex and is maintained by monks from the Sankar Gompa.
Sankar. A relatively modern monastery, it is closely associated with the Spituk monastery and serves as the residence of the head priest - Kushok Bakula. A number of gold icons are to be found here with a miniature statue of pure gold and a number of exciting paintings.
Spituk. 8 km. from Leh, it stands prominently on the top of hillock commanding a panoramic view of the Indus valley for miles. Many icons of Buddha and fine Thankas are to be found in this 15th century Gompa. The Gompa also houses a collection of ancient masks, antique arms, and an awe inspiring image of Mahakali. The face of the Kali image if kept covered and is revealed only at the annual function during the festival.
Phyang. 17 km from Leh on the Leh - Kargil road, it looks like a huge palace from afar, built by Tashi Namgyal in the later half of the 16th century AD., it belongs to the Red Cap sect of Buddhists. Hundreds of icons of Buddha and other gods are kept on wooden shelves.
Shey. Situated on a hillock 15 km upstreams from Leh, it was once the residence of the royal family. According to tradition, it was the seat of power of the pre-Tibetan kings. A 7.5 m high copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold, and the largest of its kind, is installed here.
Thiksey. 19 km from Leh, spectacularly sited, Thiksey is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive gompas. There are several temples in this gompa, containing images, stupas and wall paintings of Buddha which are exquisite. Thiksey provides a panoramic view of the green Indus valley from its vantage point atop a hill.
Hemis. 40 km from Leh, it is the wealthiest, best known and biggest gompa of Ladakh. Its popularity stems from the mojor annual festival held here in summer. The festival is in honour of Guru Padma Sambhav's birth anniversary. It also has the largest Thankha in Ladakh, which is unfurled, once in 12 years (next in 2004) Hemis was built in 1630 during the reign of Sengge Namgyal, an illustrious ruler of Ladakh. It flourished under the Namgyal dynasty for the royalty favoured the Drugpa sect, which managed the monastery. It is divided into two , the assembly hall on the right and the main temple on the left. The hall Dukhang, is also used as "green room" by the dancers during the festival. The temple is known as Tshogkhang. The varandahs have a surfeit of frescoes, among them the Buddhist 'wheel of life' (Kalachakra) and the lords of the four quarters, besides the prayer wheel.
Chemery. 45 km from Leh, situated in the picturesque valley leading to Changla, the gompa was constructed as a funeral act of merit on Sengge Namgyal's death in 1645. A large collection of scriptures with title pages in sterling silver and the text in gold letters is kept here. Close by a cave monastery reputed to have been the abode of Padma Sambhav during one of his periods of meditation.
Stakna. A few Km up streams from Thiksey, Stakna is situated in a 60 meter high isolated rock. It belongs to Kagyupa gompa is sited in a commanding position on its own clung of rock in the centre of Indus valley. It was repainted in 1982 and is now one of the most colourful and bright gompa in Ladakh. Monastery has beautiful paintings, thankhas and statues of various ideals.
Matho. Situated on the opposite bank of the Indus across Thiksey, Matho was established in the first half of the 16th century AD and has valuable collection of very old and beautiful Thankhas, some in the form of Mandalas. Its annual festival of Oracles in early march is an important event in Ladakhi religious calendar. Young monks selected as oracles undergo long periods of meditation, fasting and ritual purification to gain spiritual strength. When possessed they perform astonishing feats with swords and knives, cavorating blindfolded along narrow parapets.

Lamyuru – chilling Trek.
Wild Ladakh Trekking
A very interesting trek beginning at Lamayuru and walking up the less traveled Ripchar valley with its small villages, nomadic settlements and pastures where you see a wide variety of flowers from end of July to end of August and birds too. You cross some high passes with excellent views of the Karakoram and the Zanskar ranges. The initial part of the trek till Chilling is less traveled. From Chilling you cross the Zanskar river by a pulley cable and continue into the Markha valley-most popular and considered one of the best valleys in Ladakh..
This trek is not difficult but is demanding in stages due to the terrain. The average walking time is 5-6 hours.
Day 01 : Arrival in Delhi. Upon arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred 30 minutes to hotel Park. Overnight hotel.
Day 02 : Early morning transfer for flight to Leh. Arrival and transfer to Hotel Kanglhachhen. Afternoon free.
Day 03 : Sightseeing at Shey, Thikse and Hemis monasteries.
Day 04 : Drive to camp at Uleytokpo visiting Alchi monastery enroute.
Day 05 : Drive to Lamayuru. Visit the monastery built in the 10th century and one of the oldest monastic sites in Ladakh.
Day 06 : Trek starts.The trail heads down the valley before turning east to Prinkitila (3506m). Descend from the pass to the scenic village of Wanla. Camp overnight.
Day 07 : Hinju: - Follow a nice wide path till the village of Penji from where you leave the main trail and head up the Ripchar valley to Hinju.
Day 08 : Continue up the valley to grazing areas which support the village summer camps to camp at the base of Konzela.
Day 09 : Begin a short but steep climb to Konzela (4950m) for views of the Zanskar range. A long and steep descent brings you to a camp by the river at Lanak.
Day 10 : Chilling (3390m):- Follow the left bank of the river to the village of Sumda then go up the ridge to another pass - Dunduchunla (4435m) and descend to camp near the village of Chilling, the inhabitants of whom are the only ones who are the main metal workers making Ladakhi copper utensils..
Day 11 : Skiu (3390m):- Cross the Zanskar by pulley cable and follow a lovely trail to camp at Skiu.
Day 12 : Markha (3810m):- A full walking day. Cross the Markha River at two places to the village of Chalak. Beyond this settle-ment is an impressive line of chortens and a huge mound of goat horns. Follow the Markha River to the village of Markha to camp overnight.
Day 13 : Thachungtse:- Follow the main trail passing the monastery at Humlung to the village of Hankar. We now go away from the wide valley and go up a narrow valley to the pastures at Thachungtse. (5-6hrs).
Day 14: Nimaling (4700m):- Approx. 3-4hrs from Thachungtse, the trail climbs steeply to the plateau and pastures of Nimaling with impressive views of Kangyassey peak.
Day 15 : Rest day at Nimaling. Optional hike up the left shoulder of Kangyassey.
Day 16 : Chogdo:- Begin a gradual climb of about 2 hrs to the top of Kongmarula (5030m), the highest point on the trek with excellent views of the Stok range and the Karakoram range of mountains. Descend to the wooded gorge to camp at Chogdo.
Day 17 : Shangphu:- Follow the Shang Tokpo (stream). Go up Shang la at 4900m and descend to camp.
Day 18 : Leh:- Descend from Mathola to the village at Matho. Drive to Leh visiting Stok Palace and museum on the way back.
Day 19 : Free day in Leh.
Day 20 : Rafting on the Indus. Grade 2+ with a lot of waves. Approximately 3 to 4 hrs of fun on the river. Return to Leh.
Day 21 : Extra day to be adjusted in case of flight cancellation or exchanged for an Agra extension.
Day 22 : Fly Leh - Delhi.
Day 23 : Depart Delhi.

Fair & Festivals
In Ladakh every occasion marriage, birth, harvesting, commemoration of head Lamas founding of the monastery, Losar (new year) and flowering is marked by feasting, dancing and the singing of folksongs that forms a part of its living heritage. Most of the festivals are held in winter but some popular festival take place in summer too. The monastic festivals are the heart of all the festivals. They are performed by Monks wearing colorful silk garments and different facial mask.
Hemis Festival
Hemis festival is one of the most famous monastic festivals in June to commemorate birth of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The sacred dance drama of the life and mission is performed wearing facial masks and colorful brocades robes. The three-day festival takes place from 9th to 11th. Especially the monkey year festival, which comes in a cycle of 12 years. During it the four-storey thanka of Guru Padma Sambhava is hung in the courtyard and other precious thankas are also exhibited. Thiksey, Karsha and Spituk Gustor Gustors take place at Thiksey, Spituk and Karsha in different months of the year. The festival takes place for two days. The celebration is to mark the victory over evils. The mask worn by the dancers represent the Guardians, Protectors and the Gods and Goddesses. The festival ends with the symbolic assassination of evils and burning of the effigy of evils.
Dosmochey
Dosmochey is celebrated in Leh (Leh Palace), Liker (Lower Ladakh) and Deskit (Nubra valley) monasteries in February. The most famous among all is Leh Dosmochey, which is celebrated for two days in the courtyards of the Leh palace. The monks from different monasteries perform the Chams every year turn by turn. The festival takes place in the end and starting of the Tibetan New Year. The monks of Takthok monastery prepares the offering with Thread crosses which binds all the evil, hungry ghosts and guard against natural disaster in the coming year. On the second day of the festival, the offerings are taken out of the town in a procession and burn it while people whistle to chase away the evil spirits.
Matho Nagrang
Matho Nagrang is celebrated on the 15th day of the 1st month of Tibetan calander, at Matho monastery, the only monastery of the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism. During these two days of festival mask dances are performed by monks of the monastery wearing colorful silk brocaded robes and mask in different forms of God and Goddesses. The festival is famous because of appearance of the two oracles during the festival after full month meditation in complete isolation. The two oracles appear in the courtyard accompanying mask dancers and predict future events and people from far and away come to seek advice to perform ritual to tackle with disasters.
Stok Guru Tsechu
The monks of Stok and Spituk monasteries also celebrate Stok Gruru Tsechu for two days with mask dances performed. It is also held in Feb. around a week before the Matho Nagrang. During the festival two oracle appears, but they are laymen from the same village prepared by monks to receive the spirit of the deities.
Phyang Tsedup
Phyang Tsedup takes place in July / August. Like other monasteries, monks wearing colorful brocade robes and Mask in the form of different god and goddesses perform mask dances. The huge thanka of Skyoba Giksten Gonbo is hung in the courtyard during the festival.
Yuru Kabgyat
The 2-day festival takes place in July in Lamayuru monastery around 125 kms. from Leh. Monks like other monastic festival perform mask dances. During the festival monks perform prayer and rituals to get rid of disaster and peace in the world.
Losar Celebration
The Losar (New Year) celebration is followed by Galdan Namchot, the birth anniversary of Tsogkha pa who introduced Gelukpa School of order. During Namchot people illuminate their houses, monasteries and mountains and make offerings in the houses and monasteries.
The Losar festival is celebrated in the eleventh month of Tibetan calendar, two months ahead of Tibetan New Year. In early 17th century, King Jamyang Namgyal decided to lead an expedition against the Baltistan forces in winter; therefore he decided to celebrate the festival two months before. Later it became a tradition and being celebrated in the eleventh month.
The festival lasts for around a month, during which Gods, deities, ancestors and even the animals are fed without fail. Images of Ibex are made as auspicious symbol, walls of the kitchens are dotted and are believed to bring prosperity in coming year. The Metho (procession of fire) is thrown out chanting slogans and chasing hungry ghosts and evil spirits, and they return with rocks of ice as auspicious symbol and these are kept in the store. In some villages there is a tradition of making Old men and women, from this snow which last for a week. Over all the Losar all children and young and olds enjoy and celebrate the festival. All family members get together to celebrate if someone missing will have their cups filled with tea by their name.
Ladakh Festival
Ladakh festival takes place in September 1-15 every year in Leh and villages. The inauguration ceremony takes place in Leh on large scale with the procession of various cultural troupes from different part of Ladakh. It passes through Leh Market dancing, singing with traditional music, in colorful traditional Ladakhi dresses, and finishes at Polo ground after performing their best dances and songs. The festival last for 15 days with regular program in different villages. The program includes Archery, Polo, and Mask Dances from the monasteries, traditional dances by cultural troupes from Villages. There are series of musical concert and dance program in Leh town.

Day -1 : Travel from Delhi to Leh by air. The early morning flight from Delhi gets to Leh in less than two hours. From the airport guests would be transferred to a three star city Hotel / Guest House . Leh is at an altitude of 3500 mts. And all guests are advised to rest for the entire day. A successful trek in Ladakh requires you to acclimatize well.
Day -2 : This day is meant to provide an opportunity to get a feel of the place. Guests will be driven to the Leh Palace, which houses old relies that belong to the sixteenth century ruler of Ladak. Later in the day a trip to the monasteries at Shey. Thiksey and Hemis will also be arranged.
Day-3: Spituk - Zingchan (4 hrs.) :
The first day's walk can begin from Phey Village, instead of Spituk. It is a fairly pleasant walk in a south-westerly direction along the Indus on your right. It is long gentle walking before you enter Zingchen Gorge. The gorge is dotted with poplar trees and you reach Zingchen village after an hour's walk. To skip the regular rush of trekkers at the normal campsites it is advisable to continue walking to Hemis National Park to reach the village of Sumdzom. There are nice camping options here and we pitch up here for the night.
Day-4 : Zingchan to Kandala Base Camp (5/6 hours) :
From Sumdzom we walk upstream and then climb up the hill till we get to Kandala Nallah, along which a path leads to high pastures. On the east is a path that leads to Rumbak Village which we avoid taking. Instead we go westward following the path to Yurutse and the Kandala Base Camp.. The flat campsite a commands a very nice view of the valley below, and we shall pitch up here for the night.
Day-5 : Kandala Base Camp to Skiu (7/8 hours) :
Today is a long day. The trek up to the Kandala Pass (4870m) takes a little under two hours of steady climbing from the base camp. From the pass a well-defined path leads down to Shingo. This descent takes around two hours. Beyond Shingo we head lend for Skiu after crossing the Shingo Nallah. This stretch takes around three hours. Skiu is a fascinating place with ruins of ancient monasteries. Our campsite is beyond the village by the Markha River.
Day-6 : Today is a rest day.
We have an opportunity to bathe in the river and also go on a short trip westwards into the Zanskar Gorge to the small village of Kaya.
Day-7 : Skiu to Markha (6/7 hours) :
An early start is recommended for this day as it gets very warm when it is sunny, although the walking is not very strenuous. The trail from Skiu leads to Sara where one can stop for a quick lunch. Beyond Sara the trail goes up to the village of Chalak. We cross a river and keep going ahead for around two hours till we reach the swift Markha River. After fording across the river from the shallowest spot we carry on further to arrive at Markha Village. There are a number of options for camping here.
Day-8 : Markha to Thujungtse (6/7 hours) :
This day is a moderately tough walking day, passing through the villages of Umlung and Hanikar. The Kangyatse Peak (6400m) dominates the landscape. The trail goes northwards upto the confluence of two rivers Luntang Chu and Nyimaling Chu. At the end of the trail we get to Thujungste village. The campsite is excellent.
Day-9 : Thujungste to Nyimaling (3 hours) :
Today is a easy walk. The trail from Thujungste leas you to Nyimaling passing through several Mani walls and shepherd camps. On the way the views of Kangyatse Peak are simply spectacular. Nyimaling is a beautiful place and one can spend the afternoon exploring the valley. You can spot Blue Sheep and other wildlife in this area.
Day-10 : Nyimaling to Shang Sumdo across Kongmaru La (7/8 hours) :
From Nyimaling the trail crosses the Nyimaling Chu and ascends steeply upwards to the pass at Kongmaru La (5130m). From here the descent is sharp and an hour's walk takes you to Lhartse. The trail leads to Shang River and beyond this are the shepherd camps at Chuskumo and Chukdo. Finally we get to Shang Sumdo where the campsite is located before the confluence of two tributaries.
Day-11 : Shang Sumdo to Hemis Leh.(3/4 hours) :
The early morning may be spent exploring the side valley and the monastery of Shang. Then we set out along the jeepable road to Martselang. From here a taxi would be prearranged to take us to Leh.
Day-12 : Depart for Delhi by the morning flight.
For the more adventurous a drive to either Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged on request. The road journey is covered in two days with an overnight halt at either Sarchu, which lies on the Leh-Manali highway, or Kargil, which lies on the Leh-Srinagar highway.

Rafting in Ladakh
The most difficult but exciting option for river running is on the Zanskar along its spectacular course through the gorge in the Zanskar mountins, between Padum and Nimo. This is suitable only for well organized white-water expedition, prepared for several days of river running and camping in absolute wilderness. Participants are required to be trained rafters themselves while the arrangements should be assigned to a dependable professional agency.
Day 01: Delhi - Leh
Welcome upon arrival at the Leh airport (3,500 mt) and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day fee for accalamatisation.
Day 02 : Leh
Morning after breakfast proceed to visit Sankar monastery, Peace Pagoda and Changspa Chorten. which is situated on the valley floor.Afternoon free at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel
Day 03 : Leh - Hemis - Stakna - Thiksay
Morning after breakfast drive 50 kms to visit the famous Hemis Monastery which has some of the most precious Thankas, silver stupas enshrines statues of various Buddhist god and goddesses. Later drive back to Stakna. Upon arrival meet the RAFTING team includes the Raft driver and helper. Proper instruction for Rafting as well as safety briefing and safety instructions shall be given to the members. Wear the life jacket and begin a thrilling white water rafting along river Indus . Raft along smooth river to reach Thiksay. Enroute stop at Stakna bridge and have Lunch. Afternoon Raft again and stop at Thiksay. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 04 : Spituk - Thiksay
Morning after an early breakfast drive to visit Thiksay Monastery-this imposing monastery situated on a hill overlooking the village has a huge statue of Shakayamuni Buddha. Later drive 2 kms further to visit Shey Palace which was earlier the Royal Palace. Drive back to camp and start Rafting to reach Spituk. Lunch enroute. This is one of the most beautiful stretch overlooking Stok Kangri on your left and zigzaging along the river. Checkin at the camps in Spituk for overnight stay.
Day 05 : Spituk - Nimu
Morning after an early breakfast proceed to visit Spituk Monastery situated at the end of the Leh airport, the gompa has large collections of old Thanks and statues. Later drive back to the Rafting camp and start the final part of the RAFTING till Nimu. This day the river valley get narrower. Rafting will finish after the confluence of River Zanskar and Indus at Nimu. Later proceed for a short village visit to Nimu. Overnight stay at the Camp.
Day 06 : Nimu - Likir - Leh
Morning after breakfast proceed to visit the Likir Monastery which has an impressive sitting statue of Maitreya Buddha. On the way back visit Basgo Monastery. Later drive back to Leh and on arrival checkin at the hotel for overnight stay.

Liker to Khaltse
Short description: This classic trek is also called the "Baby Trek" because of the easy and mild hiking conditions. Starting from Likir, one passes through several villages among the richest in Ladakh and worth visiting are the monasteries of Likir, Ridzong and Tingmosgam on the way. The trek ends at Khaltse. This is the only trek that can be done throughout the year, as the passes are not very high and don't get snow-blocked during winter.
Day 01 : Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh, transfer to hotel and rest.
Day 02 : Morning sightseeing - Shanti Stupa, and Sangkar Gompa; lunch at hotel, afternoon rest.
Day 03 : Day trip to visit Shey and Thikse monasteries.
Day 04 : Leh to Likir to Yangthang 4-5 hours. Drive to Liker, around 65 kms from Leh, on the Kargil road. Visit Likir monastery and then start trekking, reaching Yangthang following a route through Saspotse village and couple of small passes, Phobe La, 3600m and Chagatse La, 3650m. Overnight in camp.
Day 05 : Yangthang to Ridzong Gompa and back to Yangthang, 5 hours. After the breakfast proceed towards Ridzong. Path follows a stream and plantation of apricot and apple. Past a nunnery, the Ridzong monastery lies hidden in a small isolated valley bounded by mountains.. After lunch walk back to Yangthang, overnight in camp.
Day 06 : Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan, 2-3 hours. Leave Yangthang for Hemis via Tsermangchen La, 3750m, a short and pleasant walk, arriving in Hemis Shukpachan by afternoon. For the rest of the day explore the village. Overnight in camp.
Day 07 : Hemis Shukpachan to Temisgam, 3 hours. Leave village and proceed towards Temisgam via Maptek La, 3750m. Crossing the pass, fine view of Ang village opens up, trail follows down to Temisgam. Visit a ruined fort and a small monastery up on the hill. Overnight in camp.
Day 08 : Temisgam to Khalsay, 4-5 hours. Walk down to Khalsay via Bongbongchan La, 3650m, reaching Khalsay, a popular stop for vehicles traveling between Leh and Kargil, then continue up to Lamaryuru Gompa by jeep.
Day 09 : After visit of the Lamayuru gompa return to Leh by road.
Day 10 : Full day of rest in Leh, or sightseeing on your own - Leh Palace, Tsemo Gompa.
Day 11 : Day trip to Matho and Hemis monasteries.
Day 12 : Day trip to Stok and Stakna.
Day 13 : Day trip to Kardung La, the highest road in the world at 18,372 ft./5600m above sea level with views of the Saser Spur, the easternmost outcrop of the Karakoram.
Day 14 : Day at your leisure.

Hemis to Zara/Kharnak (Zalung Karpola)

Short description : This partly isolated fantastic trek guarantees lots of seasonal shepherds and nomads with their flock on the way. Leaving from Hemis one crosses a few passes into the nomad area of Kharnak, finishing at Zara, on the Leh to Manali road.

Day 4: Tour of Shey and Matho gompas and Stok palace, the home of Ladakhi royalty.
Day 5: Tour of Tikse and Hemis gompas, two the wealthiest and most influential institutions in Ladakh. Camp at Hemis.
Day 6: Trek from Hemis to the village of Chogdo.
Day 7: trek to Kongmaru La base camp.
Day 8: Over Kongmaru La (16,730 ft.) to the plain of Nimaling, then over a small ridge to the secluded base camp at the foot of majestic Kang Yatze peak (21,000 ft.).
Day 9: Day at Leisure or perhaps climb an adjacent ridge for a closer view of Kang Yatze's summit.
Day 10: Over Konka Wangpo (16,500 ft.) to the valley of Langtang Chu.
Day 11: Climb to the top of Zalung Karpo La (16,570 ft.) for a birds'-eye view of the Kharnak region before descending to the lovely meadow of Sokra.
Day 12: Pass through Kharnak, with its imposing fort looming over us, and enter a spectacular gorge leading further down into willow groves. When the valley widens again, you will reach one of the most auspicious spots in the region, the site of a massive and remarkably ornamented monument. overnight camp.
Day 13: A short day. After one hour's walk, we reach the semi-permanent settlement of Dat and camp near the village. The village and its small Gelugpa gompa merit an afternoon's exploration.
Day 14: On the vast open plain beyond Dat, we keep a close lookout for herds of Kyiang, the Tibetan wild ass which frequent this valley. The stream has dried up here, but bubbling springs provide refreshment before the climb to Yar La (15,910 ft.). This is an easy pass, but the views are incredible. From the pass, there is a simple descent to Lungmoche.
Day 15: The scenery changes yet again as you pass two small ridges and descend through grotesquely wind-carved rocks to one of the most beautiful campsites in Ladakh, called Zhabuk. You slake your thirst in the crystal clear spring and watch for the flocks of graceful Bharal, or Blue Sheep, on the cliffs above.
Day 16: Be prepared for some exciting river crossings before we climb high above the Zara Chu (river) and leave it behind for good.
Day 17: You make an early start to tackle the highest pass on our journey, 17,390 ft. Marang La. The views from the summit stretch to the Great Himalaya. The descent is quite long, and we end up in a lovely willow grove on the bank of the mighty Tsarap Chu, leaving the icy heights far behind.
Day 18: It's a short walk to the Manali-Leh military road, where we meet the jeep that will take us on to Manali. This spectacular drive takes us over the main Himalaya range at the 15,255 ft Baralacha La before stopping for the night in Darcha.
Day 19: You continue by jeep over Rohtang Pass (3978 metres) to Manali.
Day 20: Day free in Manali.
Day 21: Drive to to Pinjore, check in at Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 22: A short jeep ride to Chandigarh, then the Express train to Delhi, on arrival check in at Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Hemis to Zara

Lamayuru –Markha- Matho- Stok Phu. Trek.
Wild Ladakh Trekking / Stok kangri.
A very interesting trek beginning at Lamayuru and walking up the less traveled Ripchar valley with its small villages, nomadic settlements and pastures where you see a wide variety of flowers from end of July to end of August and birds too. You cross some high passes with excellent views of the Karakoram and the Zanskar ranges. The initial part of the trek till Chilling is less traveled. From Chilling you cross the Zanskar river by a pulley cable and continue into the Markha valley-most popular and considered one of the best valleys in Ladakh.
This trek is not difficult but is demanding in stages due to the terrain. The average walking time is 5-6 hours.
Day 01 / 07 August: Early morning transfer for flight to Leh. Arrival and transfer to Hotel / Guest House. Afternoon free.
Day 02 / 08 August : Sightseeing at Shey, Thikse and Hemis monasteries.
Day 03 / 09 August : Drive to Lamayuru visiting Alchi monastery of 11 century enroute.Visit Lamayuru monastery built in the 10th century and one of the oldest monastic sites in Ladakh. over night Camp at Lamayuru village.
Day 04 / 10 August : Trek starts.The trail heads down the valley before turning east to Prinkitila (3506m). Descend from the pass to the scenic village of Wanla. Camp overnight.
Day 05 / 11 August : Hinju: - Follow a nice wide path till the village of Penji from where you leave the main trail and head up the Ripchar valley to Hinju.
Day 06 / 12 August : Continue up the valley to grazing areas which support the village summer camps to camp at the base of Konzela.
Day 07 / 13 August : Begin a short but steep climb to Konzela (4950m) for views of the Zanskar range. A long and steep descent brings you to a camp by the river at Lanak.
Day 08 / 14 August : Chilling (3390m):- Follow the left bank of the river to the village of Sumda then go up the ridge to another pass - Dunduchunla (4435m) and descend to camp near the village of Chilling, the inhabitants of whom are the only ones who are the main metal workers making Ladakhi copper utensils.
Day 09 / 15 August : Skiu (3390m):- Cross the Zanskar by pulley cable and follow a lovely trail to camp at Skiu.
Day 10 / 16 August : Markha (3810m):- A full walking day. Cross the Markha River at two places to the village of Chalak. Beyond this settle-ment is an impressive line of chortens and a huge mound of goat horns. Follow the Markha River to the village of Markha to camp overnight.
Day 11 / 17 August : Thachungtse:- Follow the main trail passing the monastery at Humlung to the village of Hankar. We now go away from the wide valley and go up a narrow valley to the pastures at Thachungtse. (5-6hrs).
Day 12 / 18 August : Nimaling (4700m):- Approx. 3-4hrs from Thachungtse, the trail climbs steeply to the plateau and pastures of Nimaling with impressive views of Kangyassey peak.
Day 13 / 19 August : Rest day at Nimaling. Optional hike up to the base of Kangyassey 6100 mtrs.
Day 14 / 20 August : Chogdo:- Begin a gradual climb of about 2 hrs to the top of Kongmarula (5030m), the highest point on the trek with excellent views of the Stok range and the Karakoram range of mountains. Descend to the wooded gorge to camp at Chogdo.
Day 15 / 21 August : Shangphu:- Follow the Shang Tokpo (stream). Go up Shang la at 4900m and descend to camp.
Day 16 / 22 August : Matho Phu - Follow the river up to A gradual ascent leads to a small stream and the trail from the head of the valley down Its true left bank, through dense scrub vegetation, is one of the loveliest parts of this Trek The spring fed stream forms clear deep pools along its course and flows into the main Shang stream, a valley away to the left. A gradual ascent gets you to Shang La, which Links the Matho valley with the Shang valley. The descent is fairly steep though not Long. Camp is set on the banks of a small stream, which eventually meets the main Matho Nala
Day 17 / 23 August : Stok Phu - Keeping right, ascend the left fork of the stream, walking right, ascend the left fork of Of the stream, walking past stone, ascend the left fork of the stream. Walking past Stone corrals and camping grounds and enter the upper Matho valley. Heading north-
West in a series of sharp ascents and descents. The trail clings precipitously to the Mountainside, crossing four large lateral stream feeding the Matho Tokpo. Camp Is set further up in an alpine meadow at the Gangpoche.
The pasturage of Gangpoche is a huge area bisected by streams, dotted with Doksas, many hidden amongst the dips and rises of the sharply uneven plain. To The south it climbs to the foot of the ice-clad bastion formed by Matho Kangri Peak and its consorts. Thrilling sharp ling in alarm as they catch sight of a Golden Eagle circling On a dihedral wings or the menacing bulk of a Bearded vulture held aloft on its nine- Foot spread. The lucky may catch a glimpse of a wolf or the track of a Snow Leopard Imprinted in wet ground, providing evidence of the presence of this most elusive of Cats. Over night camping.
Day 18 / 24 August ; Stok Khangri Base : The climb up to Matho La is extremely strenuous and at the top, travelers are often Greeted by the high wild cry of the Snow cock, a giant partridge common in these parts But difficult to see. Spectacular view of Stok Kangri (20,200 ft/ 6,121 m) and other peaks are available From the pass. This region provides an interesting study for geologists - alternatively Deposits of limestone, shale and sandstone. Also worthy of note is the formation of Stream beds and passes in the less resistant red shale. An abrupt though not very steep Descent past a spring leads to the upper part of the main Stok Nala and follows along The true right, some 90 meters above the riverbed. The valley broadens out and a Tributary stream, originating from Stok Kangri, must be forded before reaching the Campsite at the base camp of Stok Kangri.
Day 19 / 25 August : Expedition to the stok Khangri summit.

Sabu – Nubra valley trek
The Nubra Valley Trekking
The Nubra is a tributary of the Shyok River which flows parallel to the Indus on the northern side of the Ladakh range. Because of its lower altitude the valley has a mild climate and is therefore richer in vegetation. It is often referred to as the "Orchard of Ladakh".
Day 1: Arrival in Delhi. Early morning flight to Leh.
Day 2: Tour of Leh city, including the 17th century palace and gompa.
Day 3-4: Touring the monasteries and palaces of the Indus valley.
Day 5: We take a morning stroll to Sankar Gompa, then to the nearby village of Sabu. Overnight in Sabu.
Day 6: In Sabu, we meet our horses and begin the trek. Our first day takes us through lovely grazing areas to the campsite at Polu Digar. From this vantage point, the Stok mountains appear to float majestically above the Indus valley.
Day 7: Continue upward to the Digar La base camp. A short day to aid acclimatization.
Day 8: We make an early start to cross the 17,230 ft. Digar La. From the top, views stretch south to the Zanskar range and north to the Saser range, Ladakh's highest peaks. The descent is steady and we camp by a lovely meandering stream at Chumik Yogma.
Day 9: Continue down through the village of Digar to the tiny settlement of Aghyam.
Day 10: Trek to Tangyar, a prosperous village in a remarkable location.
Day 11: Continue upward to Dhungle, our base camp for the pass.
Day 12: Our second pass! Ascend the 17,061 foot Wuri La for views all the way to the Karakoram in Pakistan! Descend to camp at Zule Tokpo.
Day 13: Finish the trek with a short walk out to the village of Sabu, and the TakTok gompa, an ancient shrine built within an impressive cave. Travel by jeep over 18,000 foot plus Chang La to the village of Tangtse, where we camp amongst idyllic meadows.
Day 14: We explore the shoreline of the brilliant turquoise and azure Pangong Lake, Ladakh's largest and one of the great salt lakes of Central Asia. Proximity to the Chinese border prevents us from penetrating much beyond the western shore or camping at the lakeside, but the views are stupendous. Our return to Leh takes us back over Chang La, the second highest motorable road on earth. Back in the Indus valley, we visit the little-known gompa of Chemrey before returning to Leh that evening.
Day 15: Morning flight to Delhi, on arrival check in Hotel. Stay overnight at Hotel.
Day 16: Depart- Delhi Transfer to airport for flight to onwards journey.

Cross the river and camp at Wanla. Later visit the beautiful Gompa. Trek 04 Hrs.
Day 04: Wanla-Hanupata.
Trek on the left bank of the river Yapola and cross it to reach Phenjila. Then some easy and difficult stretches will bring you across the river and later enter the gorge to reach Hanupata. Camp just after the village of Hanupata.. Trek times 05 Hrs.
Day 05: Hanupata-Photoksar.
Initial trek along the river and later ascend up to Sirsirla (4800 Mts.) Descend on the other side and camp at Photoksar. Trek times 06 Hrs.
Day 06: Photoksar-Skumpata.
Gradual climb up to the Singila 4900 Mts. A long day descends towards village Skumpata. Trek the high trail and cross over to Kubala. . Cross the river and camp near Skumpata village Trek times 07 Hrs.
Day 07: Skumpata-Lingshet
Again ascend to Netuskila (3800 Mts.) and descend westwards to Lingshet. This is a religious and cultural centre of the area. The Gompa has 60 Lamas. Camp at Lingshet. Trek times 05 Hrs.
Day 08: Lingshet-Snetse
Trek up to the base of Hanumil, which is a fairly easy trek. Later steeps ascend to Hanuma La pass (4700 Mts.) After the pass, descend through a wild valley with glacial now and water. Camp at Snetse. Trek times 07 Hrs
Day 09: Snetse-Hanumil
Trek along the spur, make a steep descend and cross the Zingchen Tokpo. Ascend once again to reach the Parifila and descend to the level of Zanskar river and rocky track leads
to Hanumil village. Camp before the village. Trek times 05 Hrs.
Day 10: Hanumil-Pishu
The trail runs up the stream along the left bank of Zanskar River and leads to Pishu. Camp at Pishu. Trek times 06 Hrs.
Day 11: Pishu-Karsha.
Trek to Karsha, enroute visit Rinam village and overnight camp at Karsha.

Day 12: Karsha-Padum.
An easy trail across the river to Padum the capital town of Zanskar (3500 Mts.) Overnight camp at Padum. Trek times 04 Hrs.
Day 13: Padum-Raru
An easy trek along the Tsarap Lingti river. Enroute visit Bardan and Mune Monasteries. overnight camp at Raru. Trek times 07 Hrs.
Day 14: Raru-Purne.
An easy walk along the river to Purne, a small village with only two way to the campsite. After one trek in the morning, there is a huge big flat rock on the left-hand side of the trail, on which there is a figure of Lord Mahakala has self, appeared and this rock is well known to the people as Gonbo Rangion. Over night camp at Lakhang. Trek times 05 Hrs.
Day 18: Lakhang Zanskar Sumdo.
The trek starts with an ascend to Shingkuna-la pass (4900 Mts.) after the ass trek leads to Zanskar Sumdo, which is a long, descend. Trek times 06 Hrs.
Day 19: Zanskar Sumdo-Darcha.
An easy trek with at least two river crossings. Arrive Darcha on Manali-Leh Highway and camp at Darcha near river.Trek times 05 Hrs.
Day 20: Darcha-Manali
Morning drive to Manali via Rohtang Pass. Onarrival transfer to Hotel. Overnight in a Hotel in Manali.families. Overnight camp at Purne. Trek times 04 Hrs.

Hemis to Zangla via Junglam

Description: The trek starts from Hemis monastery (one of the richest monastery in Ladakh). It enters in famous Markha valley and Zangskar via Junglam, which is open only for a month. In summer this route is closed due to water crossing and in winter heavy snowfall.
Day 01:Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh, transfer to hotel and rest.
Day 02: Morning sightseeing - Shanti Stupa, and Sangkar Gompa; lunch at hotel, afternoon rest.
Day 03: Sightseeing around Sham, the lower part of Ladakh, visiting the Likir and Alchi monasteries.
Day 04: Early morning Leh to Hemis by jeep, visit the Hemis Gompa and start trekking to Shang Sumdo: cross Martselang bridge, then ascent up valley along the river, crossing it several times before reaching Sang Sumdo.
Day 05: Trek Shang Sumdo to Lartsa Kongmarula, 4800m. The route follows through a stunning landscape of red rocks along the slope, then along river till Chuskyurmo (sour water),on through gorges of small rivers many of which need to be crossed before camp is made for the night at Lartsa below Kongmarula Pass.
Day 06: Trek Larsa Kongmarula to Langthang Chu river. Before descending to a high mountain pasture at Nimaling (4700m), we must ascent steeply up to Kongmarula Pass (5150m), offering a beautiful view of the northern face of Kang Yatse Peak (6400m). From Nimaling up, cross a ridge, then descent to a beautiful valley, cross river, on up again, following a rocky slope up to Konga Ngonpo (5090m), then descend along a very steep route before reaching a campsite near Male.
Day 07: Trek Langthang Chu - Zalung Karpo La (5200m). After crossing a large stream and a moraine, valley divides an hour later. Continuing to our right, the route goes up and down before reaching Zalung Karpo La. Camp on the other side of the pass.
Day 08: Trek Zalungkarpola to Tilat Sumdo. Start descending from the camp towards the main stream. After an hour arrive at Khamak Sumdo, a valley coming from the north (route directly north leads to Rabrang La, 5000m.) Follow the gorge, crossing a stream several times before reaching Tilat Sumdo along a rocky route.
Day 09: Trek Tilat Sumdo to a north camp (4450m) of Chhar Chhar La 4950m). Just after Tilat Sumdo camp, cross Khurna river, continue on its right bank, past couple side valleys. Four hours later as the valley narrows, break camp.
Day 10: Trek from the north camp Chhar Chhar La to Zangla Sumdo. Follow the narrow gorge, past several narrow side gorges, eventually leaving behind the stream. The route follows gently up to the top of Chharchhar La, 4950m. From top follow stream down to Zangla Sumdo.
Day 11: Trek Zanglasumdo to Zangla. Continuing down from Zangla Sumdo along the stream, the trail reaches the wide expanse of the Zanskar Valley, with great views of the Zanskar River and the villages of Pishu and Pidmo on the other side of the river.
Day 12: Sightseeing around Zanskar, visiting Zangla, Stongde and Karsha monasteries.
Day 13: Start back to Leh by jeep; overnight in Mulbek.
Day 14: Return to Leh.
Day 15: Full day of rest in Leh.

Description: Chadar "frozen blanket" is the only way in and out for Zanskaris in winter, when the road is closed due to heavy snowfall at high passes. It has been the traditional trade route in winter for Centuries. The several days walk from chilling to Padum for 10 days gives different experience. It enters into a gorge and temperature drops to -30C; staying overnight in Caves and walking on frozen river is an ultimate experience for adventure lovers. One should travel to Chilling by Taxi and from Chilling it enters into a gorge and walks on frozen river up to Pidmo and two days on snow up to Padum. There is no Vehicle to travel back to Leh by Taxi, therefore you should arrange a helicopter to Manali or walk back to Leh by same route. Some travelers prefer to Ski up to Suru Valley and from Suru they return by Jeep to Leh via Kargil.

Short description: A beautiful trekking that departs from the high-altitude Tsomoriri Lake, taking one over the high Parang La pass into the Spiti Valley, finishing at Kibber village. Spiti resembles Ladakh & Zangskar in its Tibetan-style Buddhist culture and has many interesting monasteries to visit.
Day 1 : Early morning flight from Delhi to Leh, transfer to hotel and rest.
Day 2 : Morning sightseeing - Shanti Stupa, and Sangkar Gompa; lunch at hotel, afternoon rest.
Day 3 : Sightseeing around Sham, the lower part of Ladakh, visiting the Likir and Alchi monasteries.

Day 7 : Tisaling to Pangunagu 5 to 6 hours. Crossing one pass, Shibuk La (4900m), with a slow ascent and descent. Good chance to see Wild Ass ( Skyang ). Camp near the lake Tso Kar.
Day 8 : Pangunagu to Nuruchan 4 to 5 hours. Walking along Tso Kar for much of the time on the trail.
Day 9 : Nuruchen to Rajung Karu 3 to 4 hour. The shortest day of this trek with many encounters of the nomadic people of the high plateau.
Day 10 : Rachunkaru to Gyama 5 to 6 hours. Great day of trekking over Kyamayuri La ( 5410m) and Kartse La with fine views of snow peaks.
Day 11 : Gyama to Korzok 6 to 7 hours. Trek leads over Yalung Nyau La ( 5440m) offering stunning views of lake Moriri. More encounters with nomads as we near the great Tsomoriri.
Day 12 : One day rest in Korzok.
Day 13 : Korzok to Kyangdam 4 hours. All day walking along the shore of lake Tsomoriri, reaching Kyangdam at the south end of Tsomoriri with a nice camp side.
Day 14 : Kyangdam to Nurboo Sumdo 4-5 hours. After breakfast cross the river, seeing Skyang and other animals. Nurboo Sumdo is reached just after passing a spring and crossing a stream.
Day 15 : Nurboo Sumdo to Getpa Buzak 5-6 hours. Cross the Parang Chu and walk along the river on your left heading south. It is an easy ascend towards Parang La, thereafter only few more gentle ups and downs before halting for the night.
Day 16 : Getpa Buzak to Tharang Yokma 5-6 hours. Walk to Tharang Yokma along several ups and downs, but no major ascents.
Day 17 : Tharang Yokma to Kharsa Gongma 4-5 hours. Walk through an arid landscape and then along the river until reaching a big rock beside the trail. Cross the Parang Chu and camp.
Day 18 : Kharsa Yogma to Dak Ldan 6 hours. Start ascending towards Parang La. Cross Parang chu after two hours, walking up to the right side of glacier, then turn right to the top of Parang La (5800m), the highest pass on this trek.. The other side of the pass is very steep. Dak Ldan is reached half an hour later.
Day 19 : Dak Ladan to Tangltak 4-5 hours. Walk down to the stream and head east along the stream. The gorge is very narrow and Thangltak is reached after a steep ascend to the pastures.
Day 20 : Thangltak to Kibber 4 hours. After breakfast walk eastwards over a small pass then head south till you see a small village. Cross the river and reach Kibber.
Day 21 : Jeep to Manali with a stop to visit Ki Gompa. A spectacular ride including the famous passes of Kunzum La (4551m) and legendary Rohtang Pass (3878m).
Day 22 : Rest day in Manali, sightseeing on your own.
Day 23 : Return to Delhi and depart India.

Saboo To Khalsar (via Digger)
Best Time: June to October
Short description: Starting from Saboo monastery, one crosses the digar la pass into the wide Nubra Valley, with great views of the Karakoram peaks. Then along the Nubra and Shyok rivers and from Digar village via the high Digar La (5000m.) pass to Saboo back in the Indus Valley.
Day 01: leh - Saboo - Lartsa
Leave Leh for Saboo by jeeps. You will be met by the staff and ponies at the end of the village. Trek time 6 hours. Camp at Lartsa.
Day 02: Lartse - Digger
Today you cross Digger-la pass 5240 Mts. and descend to Digger village. Camp at Digger village. Trek time 7 hours.
Day 03: Digger - Khungru
Mostly descending and walking slong riverside. Camp at Khungru village. Trek time: 6 hours.
Day 04: Khungru
Free at Khungru to rest and explore the surroundings.
Day 05: Khungru - Rongthil
An easy but long trek alongside the Shyok river. Camp at Rongthil. Trek time 7-8 hours.
Day 06: Rongthil - Khalsar
It is a easy trek through very picturesque locations. Pass through and army area which is prohibited for photography. Camp at Khalsar.
Day 07: Rongthil - Disket
Drive 3 hours to Disket the headquarter of Nubra valley or drive back to Leh crossing the highest road in the world. Khardung-la pass at 5545 Mts.

Lamyuru – chilling trek.

Description: This trek has been, one of the most favorite trek among trekkers for a long time because of Beautiful Valley of Markha overshadowed by Kanyatse and other groups of Peaks. The numerous small villages, shepherds camps and passes are main feature of this trek. The trek begins from Spituk monastery or Stok village passing through Stok La and Gandala Pass, which takes you across Markha valley. At last it crosses Kongmaru Pass and finishes wonderful trek at the famous Hemis monastery.
Day 1: Delhi - Leh
Early morning connect flight for Leh. On arrival at Leh airport, you will be met by our representative at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Complete day for the acclimatization which is 3500 Mts above sea level. In the evening short work around the Leh bazaar Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2: Leh - Alchi - Lamayuru
128 Kms drive. 4/5 hrs Leave after breakfast and drive through the picturesque villages on the way visit Alchi monastery and by the late lunch you will arrive Lamayuru. Afternoon visit the most interesting monastery of Ladakh region known as Lamayuru monastery.. Overnight in tents.
Day 3: Lamayuru - Prinkitila - Wanla.
3/4 hrs trek Leaving after breakfast and descending towards the village, cross a stream gentle climb across the mountainside, then a little valley towards the Prinkitila 3750 Mtrs which is crossed after a short climb. Leave dowards down a narrow gorge to the village of Shilla. Cross a river on a bridge, then on the right bank to Wanla. Visit the monastery and overnight in tents.
Day 4: Wanla - Hinju.
3/4 hrs trek Leave after breakfast and walk along the left bank of the Yapola for another 2/3 hours until reaching the village of Phenjila. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 5: Hinju - Konzkela - Sumda.
5/6 hrs trek After breakfast leave from Hinju and and ascending to the main valley. Pas the last mountain pasture(house), then leave one or two valley on the left and clumb up the pass. The last third is steep. From the summit of the Konzkela (4950 Mtrs) long descend to pastures, then keep on the left bank along the mountainside. Several good campsites at the edge of the river. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 6: Sumda - Dundunchenla - Chilling.
7/8 hrs trek Leave after breakfast and the path becomes more difficult to follow until reaching shelter formed by the rocks. Opposite these small houses, there is a bridge, cross it and start steep ascending towards Dundunchenla (4800 Mtrs) beautiful view can be seen from the pass. Immediately descend and you reach a house high up in the valley and from here the valley gets narrower and narrower until you reach Chilling. Which is famous for metals such as copper, tin,silver used for the making of ladles, tchang pots, tea pots etc.. Dinner and overnight in tents.
Day 7: Chilling – Leh drive...

Hemis Takh- ManaliTime June to October
Highest Point Kongmaru La (5135m) Highlight Nomadic People, Village, Wildlife and High Passes.
Description: This trek begins from Hemis monastery, after 20 minutes drive from Leh. It enters Markha valley after crossing Kongmaru La 5135m, after a night halt at beautiful pasture Land of Markha valley with Yaks, Sheep's and Pashmina Goats you enter Rupsho valley. It crosses a village and several passes before you finish your trek at Juktakh at Leh Manali highway. From here you can drive towards Manali via Lahaul or drive back to Leh. Rest for a day in Manali and drive Delhi to fly back home.
Day 01 : Hemis / Shang Sumdu
After breakfast visit Hemis monastery the richest Gompa of Ladakh, from there we start to Shang Samdu, go down towards Martselang, then go up the valley which is fairly narrow in place, then walk along river-bed as far as Shang Samdu. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 4 hours.
Day 02 : Shang Sumdu / Kongmaru-La Base
After breakfast again start for Kongmaru-la base. Take a path along the slops through the red rock, then back down to the river. From Chu Skurmo the trek leads into gorges to base of Kongmaru-la. Trek time: 5 hours.
Day 03 : Kongmaru-La Base / Langthang Chu
From camp, steep ascend as far as the Kongmaru-la pass (5150 Mts.). From the pass beautiful view of the northern face of KANGYSATSE (6400 Mts.). Easy descent to the summer pasture of Nimaling. From here pass the ridge behind the camp site, go down into small valley then pass another ridge and go along the rock as far as Konka Wangpo continue to Langthang Chu. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 7 hours.
Day 04 : Langthang Chu / Sara
Go up this broad valley from camp, cross a Large stream and a moraine wall, carry on until the valley divides. Take right hand valley as far as the top of Zalong Karpo-la (5100 Mts.). Overnight in camp. Trek time: 6 hours.
Day 05 : Sara / Dat
A little way beyond the last house go into wonderful woody gorge cross the Sara river go up to the Dat river. This two rivers flow into Zanskar river further on leave a valley go into Sara traverse valley. The valley becomes very broad. Several manes (prayer wall) and Chorten on the way. Trek time: 6 hours.
Day 06 : Dat / Lungmoche
From Dat go towards the valley Dango you follow the trek upto Yar-la (4960 Mts.) fantastic view from the pass of RUPSHU. Easy descent to the summer village of Lungmoche.
Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 5 hours.
Day 07 : Lungmoche / Lun
From here go down along the river bank, follow this valley. The small village of SANGTHA and continue to ZAKBU, nomads live in this area.
Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 6 hours..
Day 08 : Lun / Takh
From LUN along the left bank for half an hour, then take a good path which leaves the river upto the left. You will come across a beautiful plateau and pass all the valley and cross Morang-la (5300 Mts.). The long descent towards Takh. Overnight in Camp. Trek time: 6 hours.
Day 09 : Takh / Leh or Manali
From Takh you can take Bus to Leh or Manali.
